OUR BELIEFS

We take the ultimate responsibility for our students’ learning by focusing our energy on what teacher actions can improve student engagement and learning.

We believe that all students should view themselves as readers and writers. Students always have a book in their hand. Students and teachers have a love of reading.
We believe that every scholar brings a unique skill, interest or ability; we differentiate our instruction to meet the needs of our students and align our teacher practices to fit the varying learning styles of all students, because we believe all students are capable of learning.
We believe that we are all constantly learning. Students and teachers approach each day with a growth mindset and implement feedback in their daily routines.
We believe that all students should view themselves as readers and writers. Students always have a book in their hand. Students and teachers have a love of reading.
We believe that teachers know their students best, not a scripted program or out of the box curriculum, and through analysis of data teachers can plan and implement targeted and meaningful instruction.
We believe that students learn best through inquiry. We encourage curiosity and provide students space to explore new concepts and develop passions.
We believe in doing what is best for students… even when it means making hard choices or doing more work ourselves.
We believe that in order for students to have choice filled lives they must develop the capacity to meet rigorous expectations. Teachers model expectations and hold students accountable to meet the expectations set.
We believe that school runs best when there are structured, organized, and efficient systems. We strive to ensure that operations never hinder instruction.
We believe that relationships matter. Students who trust their teachers and have personal relationships with positive adults within the school are more successful.
We believe that schools can be the center of social change. We acknowledge that many of our students and families have struggles outside of school but we do not make excuses. Life is hard, so school must be awesome.
We work hard, and we play hard. Costumes, skits, competitions, and school based events ramp up excitement and joy for students and teachers. We get silly because we’ve earned it.
