Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!

I am LaKeysha C. Arthur, the principal of Dorothy Height Charter School. This is my 12th year as a member of the Height family and I am truly humbled by the opportunity to lead this dynamic school filled with dedicated staff and amazing scholars.

Our mission is to prepare all students for success in college and a life of opportunity and choice by developing their academic skills, lifelong passions, and personal character. Our school culture is defined by our core values of perseverance, excellence, courage, and community. At Height, we are committed to all scholars and meeting them where they are. Our focus remains on providing all scholars with a rigorous academic education, a safe learning environment, and a positive student culture. Above all, WE believe that ALL scholars can achieve.

At Height, we provide students with great experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. Height is one of the few schools in the city that has its very own Verizon Innovative Learning Lab. This resource allows us to prepare our scholars for the future job force by encouraging entrepreneurial mindsets, social innovation, and design thinking. We also offer a robust enrichment program that includes art, PE, music, strings, choir, culinary arts, marching units and so much more. In addition, we offer after-school sports for grades 5th-8th.

We believe school should be awesome, so we work to make school awesome – our scholars deserve it.

I believe that education is the vehicle that drives scholars toward their dreams. I am committed to this life-changing work and ensuring our scholars’ academic and social-emotional needs are met. I look forward to partnering with you and your scholar as we take Dorothy Height Charter School to higher heights. Please contact our front office if you would like any additional information about our school.

“We’ve got to work to save our children and do it with full respect for the fact that if we do not, no one else will.” – Dorothy Height
