Joined the Team in 2017
Krystal joined CCS in 2017 as a math resource teacher for 3rd-5th grades at Paul Habans Charter School.
During the 2017-2018 school year, 75% of her 4th-grade math resource students scored Basic and above on the state’s LEAP assessment. In the 2023 and 2024 school years, Krystal’s 6th grade math students surpassed the NOLA schools’ averages, with 66% of her students reaching their growth to mastery targets.
In 2022, Krystal was recognized as “Teacher of the Year” at Dorothy Height Charter School for the academic growth achieved with her students.
She’s taught math in grades 3-8 and has also worked as a Math Academic Dean. In that role, Krystal provided Math coaching to elementary and middle school teachers at Height.
Krystal’s passion lies in teaching students, developing educators, and fostering a joyful learning environment. She strongly believes that every child deserves an exceptional teacher and a quality education that prepares them for future success.
Krystal grew up in Marrero, Louisiana and graduated from John Ehret Senior High School in 2007. She has a degree in TV Broadcasting with a minor in Criminal Justice from Our Lady of the Lake University, as well as a master’s degree in Health & Kinesiology from the University of Texas San Antonio. With 12 years of experience in education, Krystal started her teaching career as an 8th-grade math and social studies teacher in San Antonio, Texas.
